Here is a controllable camera in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. On the screen you get images of adjusters to control camera position and zoom. The view automatically updates giving a moving picture. From the pre-sets below the picture select 'Kreuzung' and you will see Kurt Schumacherstraße at Börneplatz where trams of routes 11 and 12 pass by. The camera is sometimes off-line.
This view is of the Oderturm in the centre of Frankfurt (Oder), Germany, as seen from the Tradecenter. Trams on route 2 pass by. The image is updated about every 30 minutes, but you will need to use the refresh button on your browser. There is an archive of shots for the previous 24 hours.
A view of the Hauptbahnhof in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. It updates once each hour and the current and previous views are shown, but you will need to use the refresh button on your browser. You may be lucky enough to catch metre gauge trams on routes 1, 4 and 5 , which cross the bridge in the middle of the scene. Click on the images for larger pictures.
Also at the Hauptbahnhof in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, this camera shows the transport interchange point between the buses in the foreground, the main line railway behind, and the town tramway stop on the flyover on the left. If you have the Macromedia Shockwave "Flash" plug-in (which you can download) you get the current view and those 3, 6 and 9 minutes before or there is an option to display the current image without "Flash". This site has a video-camera of Burgstraße in Halle, Germany along which a tram route runs. Click on the picture and after a short delay while the data loads, you should get a moving picture of the street and if you are lucky there may be a tram there. However, this camera is slow to load and is sometimes off-line.
Provided by the town, we have three cameras in Halle, Germany. The camera on the initial page looks west across Marktplatz and shows a tram stop to the bottom right. A link takes us to the second camera which is at Glauchaer Platz and shows a flyover, but with trams on route 6 occasionally visible on the lower parallel street (Herrenstraße) to the right. The third camera at Riebeckplatz looks east and trams on several routes can be seen passing under the flyover and under the railway bridge at upper left, with Halle Hauptbahnhof at the very top of the picture. All the images are frequently updated by Java software.
From high up on the Mundsburgtower in Hamburg, Germany, we get a view down onto Mundsburg Station of Hamburger Hochbahn A.G. Over the 100 year old viaduct run trains of U-Bahn route U2. The image is updated once per minute, but you will need to use refresh on your browser to get it.
Here is a view at Steintor in Hannover, Germany. Most of the trams are at this point underground in a subway, but cars on route 10 pass by on the surface and can be seen by the camera. The image automatically updates every 30 seconds.
These traffic cameras are in Hannover, Germany. They are on the roads that skirt the city so for the large part have no trams, but routes 4 and 5 pass camera 9 at Pferdeturm. Clicking on the number on the map opens a pop up window showing the scene, with "reload" and "close" options below. The camera pans so does not always show the same view and at times we have found this camera to be off-line.
From the top of the Intershop Tower in Jena, Germany, we get two controllable cameras giving a panoramic view of the town. There are east and west outlooks (Ostseite and Westseite). Clicking on the panoramic view or on the arrows adjusts the camera position and the picture can be zoomed. Clicking on the names to the left gives pre-set views. On the Ostseite camera, Holzmarkt and Saale both show trams. The view automatically refreshes every couple of seconds. For an alternative access method giving a snapshot, click here.
This camera is at Jena Ost, Germany and looks towards the town centre. Trams can sometimes be seen. The image automatically updates every ten seconds, but you will need a high speed connection.
This camera shows the Marktplatz in Karlsruhe, Germany. It auto-updates every 5 minutes but you can click the image to get an instant update. A number of Karlsruhe tram routes pass this point which is in the centre of the town.
This second camera also shows the Marktplatz in Karlsruhe, Germany, but from the opposite direction, looking down from the Volksbank with the famous Pyramid in the foreground. The view auto-updates every 5 minutes or you can use refresh to get a quicker update.
Here are a range of street cameras in Karlsruhe, Germany, most of which can show trams. On the first page select "Webcam" from the menu. This gives small images and the camera locations. Click on the images to get a larger picture. The views update every 10 minutes but you need to use refresh on your browser.
This camera is in Heilbronn, Germany, part of the extensive Karlsruhe network but which has its own local services. The trams on route S4 to/from Karlsruhe can be seen to the left of the view which is in Kaiserstraße. The image updates automatically and the rate is adjustable.
Not a live camera, but a video from a driver's cab showing the stadtbahn in Heilbronn, Germany, part of the extensive Karlsruhe network. Two versions are offered, a high definition AVI film or a much smaller and quite acceptable Windows Media Video clip. The Karlsruhe railgrinder car appears about half way through. Here is the main railway station in Pforzheim, Germany. As well as main line railway trains, stadtbahn cars of the Karlsruhe network on route S5 from Karlsruhe and local route S6 to Bad Wildbad can be seen stopping here.
