WEST MIDLANDS

Based in Birmingham, and serving members in the West Midlands, including Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

The Group holds its own meetings at 1.0 pm on the first Saturday of alternate months (September, November, January, March and May) at the Aston Manor Road Transport Museum, Witton Lane, Birmingham (this is the former Birmingham Corporation Witton Tram depot). These meetings usually concentrate on the practical aspects of building model trams and tramways.

A Summer outing (usually in June) to a venue of current tramway interest often features in our programme.

We also hold monthly meetings during the winter season jointly with the Light Rail Transit Association and the Electric Railway Society. These are held usually at 2.0 pm on the second Saturday of each month from October to April, at Carrs Lane Church Centre in Birmingham city centre (opposite Moor Street Station).

These meetings usually take the form of talks by officials from the tramway industry, and of slide shows given by members of the three societies on subjects of general tramway interest.
